Having faced his own challenges, he has developed effective strategies to overcome the obstacles of restoring health and vitality. As a Health Coach and Personal Trainer, he takes a holistic approach to wellness, offering guidance on what nourishes both body and mind. Derrick is a proud father living in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

My Story

"Wait, you think I’m an alcoholic?" That was my reaction during my first consultation with the therapist. She agreed to counsel me, but only if I completed a 30-day rehab program at an addiction center. Back then, I thought I was in control and could stop whenever I wanted. But I had surrendered that control to alcohol long before without realizing it. After countless attempts to set limits, like drinking only on days off or just with friends, it always reverted back to a daily habit.

Rehab and counseling were important steps, but I didn’t truly take back control until I was on the verge of losing something irreplaceable—love. When my relationships began to suffer, I knew I had to change. That change started with the decision to live a sober life and the courage to follow through.

Living sober since Oct. 20, 2021, has been a dream come true. I have control of my life, look and feel better, and have confidence knowing I’m an achiever. But the journey wasn’t easy. Looking back, I see gaps in the recovery process. Therapists and counselors are invaluable, but I wish I’d had someone to guide me on eating for recovery and transitioning from unfit to fit. Someone to share my goals with and help me achieve them, while understanding the challenges I faced.
